Before I knew it, I was thrust into a precarious position. My daughter was born prematurely at 32 weeks, and I was working to overcome extremely elevated blood pressure. It was at that point that I dedicated myself to learning as much as I could about health, nutrition, safety and early child development to help me be the best, most well-informed mom I can be for my daughter. Also after being faced with a potential hormone issue when my daughter was 9 months old, I was determined to remove any hormonally disruptive products from my regimen with her.
I did extensive research on the products we were currently using and was horrified to find that the majority of the popular baby products contain ingredients that can cause hormonal issues. I went to work and went clean in almost every area. After several months her hormones leveled out. I am not certain that the measures I took made the difference, but I can’t help but wonder if I had continued using the same products, would the outcome have been different. Through a lot of research and experimentation with recipes, I have discovered that a lot of the products we have grown accustomed to buying at the store can be made with non-toxic ingredients at home.
Through all this, I benefitted greatly from all the mommy blogs and resources out there on the "Internets". I feel that I should pay it forward and offer my bit to the collective wisdom. I hope these resources help you as much as they have been helping me along this journey of motherhood.
