Recall Details

This recall includes eight styles of children’s 100-percent polyester, hooded robes. The robes were sold in sizes 4-6 and 7-9 in the following styles: purple elephant, lion, pink bear, lady bug, blue puppy, duck, monkey, and princess cat. A label sewn in the robes has item number 2013NW081 and “Kreative Kids” printed on it. The robes also have a hood, long-sleeves, a belt, cinched back and two front pockets.

Recall Details

This recall involves three models of 12V battery-operated ride-on toys, including Surge 12V Camo 4X4, Surge 12V XL Quad and Tonka 12V Mighty Dump trucks. The recalled ride-on toys have model numbers and date codes listed in the table below. The model number, batch number, serial number and the date code , formatted as “MMDDYYYY,” are printed on a label on the bottom of the ride-on toy.

Incidents/Injuries

Dynacraft has received 19 reports of pedals sticking, including seven reports of minor injuries; abrasions, cuts and bruises.

The Surge 12V Camo 4X4 was sold at Walmart nationwide between June 2016 and March 2017 for about $300. The Surge 12V XL Quad sold at Academy Sports + Outdoors stores nationwide from September 2016 through March 2017 for between $150 and $200. The Tonka 12V Might Dump Truck was sold at Toys R Us stores nationwide and online at ToysRUs.com from July 2016 through November 2016 for about $350.

Night Lights Recalled by AM Conservation Group Due to Fire Hazard

The night lights can overheat, posing a fire hazard. The product recall was issued on May 10, 2017.

This recall involves luminescent night lights Model 2017-G, a square-shaped night light with a rounded top. The night light glows green when plugged into an electrical outlet. The back of the night light has a metallic sticker with the “UL” logo on it. If the UL label has a number on it beginning with the letter H or I followed by seven numbers, it is included in this recall. The night lights were given free to consumers, individually and in energy conservation kits.

Remedy

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled night lights and contact the firm for a free replacement.

Incidents/Injuries

The firm is aware of 14 incidents of the night lights smoking or smoldering. No injuries have been reported.

The recalled night lights were distributed as free promotional products by various companies between November 2016 and March 2017.

This recall involves Combi Shuttle model strollers and car seats, which when used together are called a travel system. The strollers and car seats have model number 6100027 or 6100100 printed on a label on the base of the car seat and stroller’s leg. The car seat and stroller were sold in titanium (silver) and red chili (red) colors. Combi is printed on the front of the stroller and the car seat. Shuttle is printed above the model number.

Favorite Play Mat – Tiny Love Gymini Super Deluxe

With a baby comes a lot of stuff. You have all of the essentials for sleeping, carrying, diapering, feeding and even corralling — but what about playing?

A baby’s environment can be entertaining in itself, but us new parents love tools that help with development. If a toy can help facilitate tummy time, encourage the baby to roll over and improve hand-eye coordination, it will get a second look. Also, if the toy allows mom and dad time to take a breather while baby is occupied and entertained, it’s a winner.

In my opinion, the baby play mat is one of those must-have items. We tried out several with my daughter. After trial and error backed up by research (scrutinizing a ton of reviews), we found a really good one.

Tiny Love Gymini Super Deluxe Lights & Music Play Mat

Back in December we ran an Amazon giveaway gifting this wondrous device to one of our Twitter followers. That’s how much we love it! There are tons of play mats out there and it may not evident how one could be better than the other — outside of the obvious characteristics such as size and overall aesthetics.

Let’s go over a few of the things that made the Tiny Love Gemini Super Deluxe mat standout:

Size

A big play mat can be cumbersome, but the bigger, the better in my book. After all, you want your baby to stay on it, not roll off with just a few turns. This play mat is a bit larger than most at the same price point.

Price

You are buying a lot of things for baby. With a play mat, you want something that’s quality, durable, but not too expensive. For me, if a relatively large toy is under $50,  I think it’s a good deal — especially when its something that will be used daily.

Portability

This mat is super easy to tote to the grandparents’ house. It sets up and breaks down quickly and travels well in the case its packaged in.

Comfort

The padding on the mat is pretty thick (not as thick as others, but pretty good), making it comfortable for your little one spend time on. My daughter would often fall asleep on it after an especially exhausting playtime.

Toys

The Gymini comes with 5 cute hanging toys that vibrate, rattle, spin, and roll. They can be moved from one area of the play mat to another. My daughter enjoyed the toys so much that they were our take-along toys clipped to the high chair when out at a restaurant and stowed in the diaper bag for short trips. The play mat comes with a mirror that she also loved.

Extras

Who doesn’t enjoy music and lights? The Gymini includes both along areas of the mat that crinkle and squeak that your little one can explore.

There are definitely a lot of play mats out on the market, but I definitely suggest the Tiny Love Gymini. Both you and baby will be glad you did.

Britax Recalls Strollers Due to Fall Hazard

A damaged receiver mount on the stroller can cause the car seat to disengage and fall unexpectedly, posing a fall hazard to infants in the car seat.

The U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission issued a recall alert on February 17, 2017.

DIY Diaper Cream

DIY Diaper Cream
Diaper cream is one of those things that a new mom can’t live without. It’s something we apply to our little one’s bum several times a day. It is for this reason that I wanted to use something that has natural, food-grade ingredients to avoid all the harmful chemicals in the conventional creams. With the desire to go the natural route, I also wanted something that is effective because diaper rash is no fun.

My daughter started developing a bit of a rash at around 4 months old, and I tried pretty much every natural diaper rash cream I could find. Not a single one handled the minor diaper rash that she was suffering from, which made me wonder what I would do if she developed a serious diaper rash. Is the only option a conventional cream with questionable ingredients?

I needed something to block moisture like petroleum jelly, but produced from food-grade ingredients. After scouring the web, I came across a great recipe for a natural Vaseline alternative. To really make this recipe work as a diaper cream, I made some tweaks to punch up the moisture blocking factor.

Making your own diaper cream may sound like quite the endeavor, but surprisingly you can craft your very own. There are a lot of great recipes out there that I have tried. The most effective has been one that mimics Vaseline.

One thing to keep in mind when making your own diaper cream — simpler is better. There are some recipes that call for essential oils like lavender oil and tea tree oil. Based on my research, there are concerns that these oils can act as endocrine disrupters, throwing your child’s hormones out of whack. As a result, I would recommend against using essential oils and stick to simple, food-grade ingredients.

Below are a few of the recipes I have found most helpful. I experimented with the ratios to meet my needs, and you should do so you too, but these are great bases to start from.

Cute and cost-effective glass baby food containers

Ball Jam Jars 8 ozCute, convenient, and cost-effective baby food containers made of glass? One of these things doesn’t belong. When it comes to anything baby related, “cost-effective” typically goes out the window, but not in this case.

If you are like me and try to use plastic as little as possible, you will appreciate a good, sturdy glass container for baby food. There are some great containers out there, but they can be pricey. I have a set of the 4-ounce Wean Green Wean cube containers, which I love. But as my daughter got older, I needed something bigger to hold her homemade meals. Also, I didn’t want to spend another $20 on a set of four glass containers.

On a trip to Target, I came across a set of four Ball 8-ounce jam jars . The jars only cost $5.49, so I decided to give them try along with the reusable lids for $2.99. My main concern was if they would fit my Kiinde bottle warmer. To my delight, they fit perfectly. Also, I couldn’t help but love the fruit embossment as an added touch of cuteness.

These jars can be easily stowed in my diaper bag and because they are canning jars, they can be put in the freezer and heated without worry. Another must have — the reusable plastic lids offer a secure, leak-proof fit. I have not had any mishaps or leaks with these lids when securely tightened. Ball also has a set of four 4-ounce jars ($5.49) that can be used for baby food as well that are super cute.

Toys ‘R’ Us Recalls Pacifier Clips Due to Choking Hazard

The pacifier clip’s spring mechanism can break and release small parts, posing a choking hazard. These items were sold exclusively at Babies ‘R’Us and Toys ‘R’Us.

The U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission issued a recall alert on September 8, 2016.

Description

This recall involves Babies‘R’Us pacifier clips sold in an assortment of six colors and character designs, including a red monster, blue monster, monkey, giraffe, owl with one eye closed, and an owl with both eyes open. The pacifier clips have a circular plastic cover affixed to a metal spring clip and a fabric strip with snaps at the other end. The recalled pacifier clip assortment has model number 5F6237F and “®2014 Geoffrey, LLC” engraved on the back to the plastic cover.

Remedy

REFUND – Consumers should immediately take the recalled pacifier clips from babies and return the product to Babies ‘R’ Us or Toys ‘R’Us for a refund.

Summer Infant Recalls Infant Bath Tubs Due to Risk of Impact Injury and Drowning

This recall involves Lil’ Luxuries Whirlpool, Bubbling Spa & Shower with fabric slings. The infant bath tub is a battery-operated whirlpool bath with motorized jets intended for use with children from birth to 2 years. The product contains a fabric sling on a plastic frame onto which the infant is placed for bathing.

The fabric sling on the recalled bath tubs does not have a white plastic attachment clip to hold the headrest area of the fabric sling to the plastic frame. Recalled bath tubs have item numbers 18840, 18850, 18863, and 18873 and were sold between October 2012 and October 2013 with date codes starting with 1210, 1211, 1212, 1301, 1302, 1303, 1304, 1305, 1306, 1307, and 1308, which stand for the two-digit year followed by the two-digit month, on the fabric sling.

The U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission issued a recall alert on October 6, 2016.

Remedy

REPLACE – Consumers should immediately stop using the fabric sling in the recalled product and contact Summer Infant for a replacement fabric sling with a white plastic attachment clip.

Toys R Us/Babies R Us and other juvenile product specialty stores nationwide from October 2012 through October 2013 for about $60. CPSC and Summer Infant warn consumers that these tubs could have been and could continue to be sold on the secondhand market.
